GRUPO TEKNICALDE is a company specialized in siderometallurgy with over 25 years of experience in manufacturing high-quality welded mechanical parts. Its track record and production capacity have positioned it as a benchmark in the sector.

The company operates in 20,000 m² facilities, distributed across three floors, allowing it to manage over 6,000 tons of raw material annually. This infrastructure ensures an efficient production flow and the ability to respond to high demand volumes with tight deadlines.

With a team of over 100 highly skilled professionals and state-of-the-art technology, GRUPO TEKNICALDE integrates the entire production process, from laser cutting of sheet metal and tubes to robotic welding and surface finishing, ensuring maximum precision and quality in each piece.

The Challenge

In 2019, TEKNICALDE operated with five laser cutting machines, with an annual nitrogen consumption of over 350,000 Nm³. To meet this demand, the company used liquid nitrogen, supplied via tanker trucks.

This system required 15 monthly deliveries, where the tanker truck would be filled at the production plant and transport the gas in liquid state to the customer’s facilities. This method, besides generating a significant environmental impact, involved complex logistics and high operational costs.

The Solution: In Situ Nitrogen Generation

To optimize the process and reduce dependence on external supply, GasN2 implemented an on-site nitrogen generation system, installing two high-pressure GN108 units, capable of producing 102.40 Nm³/h of nitrogen with 99.999% purity.

The generated nitrogen is stored in two 3,000-liter intermediate buffer tanks, allowing for efficient and stable distribution. Additionally, the gas is recompressed into four racks of cylinders at 200 bar, with a total capacity of up to 640 Nm³ of nitrogen, ensuring a continuous and autonomous supply for TEKNICALDE’s production needs.

Results

  • More than the 90% reduction on the liquid nitrogen consume, decreasing more than 16 tones of CO2 annually associated to the gas transport.
  • Reduction of logistic costs, eliminating the need of transporting nitrogen in cistern trucks.
  • Autonomy in the nitrogen generation, ensuring a stable subministrant and without interruptions.
  • Optimization of the operative processes, eliminating the logistic unnecessary works.
  • Improve in the ambiental sostenibility, reducing the carbon imprint in the company.
  • Significative economic saving, consolidating itself as an efficient, sostenible and rendible alternative.

With GasN2’s solution, TEKNICALDE has transformed its nitrogen supply system, achieving a 90% reduction in road transportation, optimizing its sustainability and efficiency, and significantly reducing its carbon footprint. This innovation reinforces the company’s commitment to technology, profitability, and environmental responsibility.
